Gilchrist is the grandson of Garrick Ollivander, owner of Ollivander's. His parents are both officials in the ministry while Gilchrist wants to follow after his father and become a wand maker. He has been studying for that as long as he can remember. About to start his seventh year at Hogwarts, Gil is a guy who loves to laugh but who still has self-esteem issues from lots of teasing due to his weight when he was younger. His grandmother died during his Christmas break fifth year. It was betweeen his fifth and sixth year that he decided to loose all of the weight.

Gil is a very friendly guy. He is also an extremely loyal friend. His best friends tend to be those people who were friends with him before his sixth year. That doesn't mean he still doesn't make friends though. Quite the opposite actually. He loves to make friends, it is the way that he is.

Gil has never been on a date in his life. Up until the beginning of his sixth year, girls tended to relegate him solely to the friend zone. Now, however, it's just because he dhas n't seen a girl he likes or had the confidence to ask one out if he has.

To know a descendant of the Ollivanders would create so much happiness in her that she would want to SCREAM. Ash is an annoying git but Gil isn't the type to make him go into overdrive. I think there's actually the potential for an odd sort of friendship there, assuming Gil is willing to put up with Ash's shenanigans and mad scientist goals. Ash'd actually love to pick Gil's brain for wand data and whatnot. Science, you know. SCIENCE!

Rhian's in that weird limbo between being in the closet and being out of it. She doesn't really spread it around or admit to it all that much but she's not denying it. She's going to have a bit of culture shock when she realizes how much more comfortable muggles and muggle-borns are about sexualities other than straight xD But her and Gil will probably have a pretty sweet, relaxed friendship once they get comfortable with each other.

Oh this will be a fun relationship to play with. Ash will try to rope Gil into rounding up people with certain wand woods or cores or combos in order to collect experimental data. Ash is very curious about these sorts of things for completely harmless reasons, I assure you.

Hmm, you're right. I'm not sure if the Longbottoms would have saved her wand or if it somehow was destroyed/lost during the torture. I'll have to ask Kat and Devvi about that. Anyways, when they do start school, they should get to know each other fairly well, especially since they're both friends with Lily.
